The "Revelations/Rapture/Last Days" types of Christian believe Jesus will be coming back with an army, packing a sword and a mean look in his eye. He will be kicking ass and taking names, and elections will have little to do with it.
I guess the low-key "humble" approach didn't work out all that well.
On the other hand, when you can whomp up food and drink from thin air, and heal people by touching them, the welfare state becomes a lot more feasible. Might be a point in his favor if he were up for election.
