My guess is that a capsule for CAPS use is being looked at - better capacity than mini-shuttle, more uses, as analyzed earlier...

I would suggest that also a "Black Horse" type craft is also under consideration...

Let's call this one "Dark Horse", just to make things clear.... Try 4 man capacity, detachable self contained escape "pod"... monoque (integral) alloy heat shield covered by kevlar or something similar - easier to test, way more abort options... also easier for regular operations, as no recovery fleet needed, cheaper to launch, as normal in-flight re-fueling aircraft type of operation...

Try either Phantom Works or Skunk Works as prime, with talent called in as needed, "normal" procurement used... that is, "normal" procurement techniques for P Works or S Works...

I think that the mini-shuttle is going to go to back-up status for these 2 efforst...
