That is why I posted both sides of the argument... My main question is do vid games count as speech....
Personally, I would rather a kid be allowed to buy playboy etc than buy stuff that has him shooting people at random on the street... wouldn't you?
Kids cant buy playboy.... My point is we here in the US see nudity as worse than mass murder in terms of restricted speech...
Honestly, I _dont_ think the game should be banned, but the social norm should be to show shock at these games.... to protest... far too few do...
As I said- I played DOOM - it isnt a peaceful game... I havent become a mass murderer... the vast majority wont... I think it is questionable that anyone has been influenced to murder by a game... but I wonder about attitudes... You cannot deny the worst offenders glorify murder
When I went to school in rural oklahoma there were some kids that got their giggles torturing animals... I overheard them talking about it... they found it funny... I dont think they are mass murderers now, but would you want to know these people? Do you think sadists change?
Tom, would you want your daughter to date a guy enthralled by these games? I am not trying to get personal... As I said, I detest cencorship.... but what does it say when we think mass murder is far less offensive than even moderately graphic sex? Or just nudity?
