Do you remember?
I was in Tahoe, CA skiing on the mountain and came into the lodge to see what happened after hearing about the tragedy at the chair lift. I was trying to get to the lodge as fast as I could and fell more times than I would admit.
The first thing that came to my mind was that the first civilian, a school teacher died on a NASA mission and feared that other civilians would be excluded from all missions from now on.
Then, I was puzzled at how the Shuttle, a marvel to me, could malfunction and kill 7 astronauts so quickly.
