re: I haven't read all the posts...

I'm interested in knowing where you guys find support for the assertion you make over and over again that this is an isolated case. The investigation only covered that brigade in that prison, right? So the fact that they didn't turn up anything else does not prove (as you seem to assert) that there were no other abuses, or that there were not a lot more abuses, or that it is not a systemic (using your interpretation of Bowser's definition) problem. Where's that come from?

It's called rational thinking, and the benefit of the doubt.

If a cop investigates a house on a city block and finds a crack house there, this does not automatically mean that every other house is a crack house.

If you want my opinion, I think it is quite possible that similar incidents have occurred in other such situations, particularly in Afghanistan, and I think a thorough look at all such facilities by the military is in order. To the best of my knowledge, this is being done, but I haven't looked into it in detail.

But I am not going to stand for painting the entire American military and intelligence system with this brush without real evidence. We had enough of that after Vietnam, and most of it turns out to have been bullshit.

BTW, considering the pedigree of some of these officers, a look at U.S. prison facilities wouldn't hurt either.
