Well, this is Flame.

There's something profoundly inhuman about defending these practices as not torture.

There's something fundamentally un-American about condoning this behavior as harassment and akin to a college initiation.

There's something very basic which is broken in these people, something ugly, deep and dark.

It seems twisted, that ability to not regard the people in those pictures, and there will be more, as people, as humans in custody, in the trust, of Americans.

I thought that to be American meant to believe in certain values, Human Rights, and, yes, sometimes to play by harder rules than the next person.

That's why it meant something to be American. There were principles, and if the other guy didn't have them, well, we did. And if we had to work harder, we were, after all, Americans.

Those values seem to be disappearing. What it meant to be an American is disappearing. And the folks on these boards who call these abuses of people over whom they have complete control merely harassment are, in my humble opinion, not American in the sense with which I was raised.

They are no different than the barbarians at whom they sneer. Pointing one finger, there are three pointing back at themselves. And they are so broken as to not be able to see them.
