Dissent doesn't necessarily mean being against America; it can mean being against its current president.
The US that liberated Europe in 1944 isn't the same as the US that invaded Iraq.
First, we had been occupied and the US liberated us from the occupier and then let us choose ourselves who were going to be our representatives (just like it was the case before the occupation).
I don't see the same scenario in Iraq. Once Saddam was found, the troops should have left the country. But no, there was regime change in the air.
