Evil Empire

If one believes there is any such thing as evil, the USSR was an evil empire. Now they are not. Would you have considered 1939 Germany an evil empire? Now they are not.

When the term evil empire is applied the onus is on the government not the people. Of course Russians are people like anyone else.

The Palestinians and Israelis are talking and no one suggests that they shouldn't. The point is, the Israelis would have been annilated 50 years ago if the Arabs had had the power to do so. It would have been a fete accompli and at best the only talking going on would be trying to recreate a Jewish state. More likely the idea would have been long ago scrapped as non-feasible.

The 9-11 terrorists did represent a religion just as the christians who bomb abortion clinics represent a religion. Those christians are openly and loudly vilified and ostracized by christian clerics and a vast majority of ordinary christians while the muslims extremists openly recruit and train murder squads and enjoy a Robin Hood persona among the Islamic masses.
