It's a sure bet that during the Republican Convention, the Fifth Column will attempt a full blown freak show through violent confrontations with the NYPD (they'll try a repeat of the 1968 political demonstrations in Chicago that fouled up the Democratic Party Convention). Also the only reason why Al Qaeda doesn't do some evil for the Republican Convention will be because the FBI/CIA preempted all possibilities (hardly likely). The $64,000 question: If the freaks and/or Al Qeada make a mess out of the Republican Convention, will the US "do a Spain" or will the American people get pissed off at the bad guys and Bush's popularity goes up a couple notches as a consequence. It's hard to tell. If Bush's campaign managers are sharp, they're asking this same question right now.
