Saudi Arabia

You have to note how many Muslims are coming to Europe to become Europeans, and how many are coming to make Europe a carbon copy of Iran.

There are also those who are coming to earn a living.

I don't know how many there are of any of these groups. I doubt anyone has hard, or even soft, numbers.

There are certainly many of the former, but I'm sorry, there are too many of the latter for comfort. Look at the schools, and the mosques, and what they are teaching.

Thus the title of this post. What nation is the home of Wahhabism? Where is the funding coming from for these fanatic schools and mosques? Whose citizens flew planes into our buildings? Why are we still treating them like valued allies?

(BTW, I sympathize with the spelling problem. That's what happens when transliterating from a non-Roman alphabet.)

While many immigrants came to America and created small enclaves for themselves where they had the comfort of their own languages and cultures, they still assimilated. Especially their children. [emphasis mine]

Adults merely adapt. The children are the only ones who assimilate, really. They can't assimilate unless they are allowed to be there.

How many European immigrants came here to make the United States just like Germany? Or Ireland?

Take a look at the architecture. Listen to the dialects of English spoken in different parts of the country. Listen to the non-English dialects still spoken in some parts of the country lo these 100, 200 years later. (I can go to my ancestral home and hear Polish radio. I can drive for an hour and hear spoken German.) Eat the food. Listen to the political discussion (if any, anymore :( ). Look at the multitude of houses of worship. The answer is: all of them, in the part where they were living.

Politically, no, recreating the pogroms, the religious wars, the absentee landlords was not on the list of things to do. But when a group became politically influential, they passed laws favoring their own way of doing things. They were hated and feared by those who had formerly dominated the paths of power. This is no different.

The Puritans came here with a vision of a City on the Hill. Tell me they didn't have an agenda.

Do Asian immigrants come here with the intent of making America a Buddhist nation?

~sigh~

These are Nativist arguments. Take a few criminals as the sample population and use it to damn a whole people. I suggest you do a little reading on the Nativist approach to Chinese immigration a scant 100 years ago. You will find people who thought the answer to your question was "Yes".

There's a conflict going on between civilizations. Not everybody sees that yet. And even if you don't believe it, the other side certainly does.

I understand that there are a group of fanatics that are pursuing a radical agenda. I also understand that if we begin to behave like them, demonizing the others' culture and closing off contact out of fear, they win.

What makes Western culture different? It's open, that's what. Close it, and they win.
