I'm pessimistic in the short run (next century). Example in point, for most of the 20th century the Irish in Boston were notorious for FUNDING IRA terrorism that killed many in Northern Ireland and Britain. Rather than moderate the terrorists, they encouraged them and hero worshiped from afar. Folks would take up collections for the IRA murderers in Boston bars, coffee houses etc.
Pols like Ted Kennedy winked at this stuff. To his credit President Clinton put some effort into resolving the matter and it was much improved. After 911, the IRA lost any of its remaining cache in Boston and I'm sure elsewhere. Finally.
