I wish that was an option to me to simply leave Bush in office and feel that a vote for Democratic congressmen and senators in my state would make a difference but I'm in an extremely conservative state. My state senator is John McCain and he's a shoein for reelection. My representative controls an area including the Sun City retirement area and many rural communities that vote almost exclusively Republican.
My only choice this election is to vote anti-Bush if I want to stop what I feel are his abuses of power. I don't think anyone in the country wanting to control the power the neo-cons are gaining lately can count on a change in control of Congress to rectify that. I still stand with my conviction that the best thing that can happen in American politics is for the electorate to continually term-limit all politicians with their vote. Give everyone a single term to prove their effectiveness, then toss their butts to the pavement. If they're truly ethical and effective leaders, they can run for some other office to continue their political careers. I think the net effect of a continual sweep of the power base is worth the bad effect of removing the few exceptional politicos.
I'd also like to see people in America start lying to pollsters. I think if we all told them that we're voting for some independent candidate every time we're asked, the polls would become a moot point and the elections could go back to the true convictions of the candidates.
