re: You got a better idea?

I posted one while Colin Powell was still doing Bush's dog-and-pony show in the UN, pushing what turned out to be baseless accusations, back when everyone already knew the invasion of Iraq was inevitable. [You know: trying to invoke the drama of Bob McNamara's chalk-talk about Soviet missles in Cuba, but without either Soviets or missles...]

You can find that post somewhere on the CE back pages. My browser doesn't support the "earlier" button, and I have company coming this weekend, therefore cleaning to do.

But I'll give you the high points: an international "police" force, armed as necessary, duly constituted by the only international organization we have upon which to hang such a precedent: The United Nations.

You didn't like it, because you consider the UN too corrupt to ever become uncorrupt. I'd call that defeatism, myself . . . not at all worthy of a Heinleinian.

The laws are on the books. We're talking about human rights, here -- the same human rights the Bush League had to backpedal into as the ex post facto justification for the invasion when WMD, yellow-cake and the link to 9/11 turned out to be delusions. We just need the right kind of cops.

I've just repeated a year-and-a-half old suggestion you claim now to have never heard, though at the time you responded -- thoughtfully, if I recall correctly.
