For someone who doesn't believe a word Kerry says, you seem to put a lot of capital into what he does say - or at least the GOP spin on what he says.
"Where would the Middle East be now if we'd decided not to fight Gulf War I? "
Good question.
assuming there was no intervention at all, ever (pretty big assumption) Iraq would likely be in control of Kuwait, Saudi and probably some emirates. Given no UN inspections, contaiment or unilateral strikes by Israel, Iraq may be a nuclear power by now.
Kerry's vote makes no sense in retrospect. Bad decision.
anyhoo - right back at ya:
Where would Iraq be now if George HW Bush had not been convinced by TBW to not go wobbly?
""And so this was the reason why I said, 'look George, this is no time to go wobbly, we'll do it this time, but we can't fall at the first fence.'""
If Kerry's vote makes no sense, neither does pere's initial reluctance (notwithstanding the non-commital signals the US was giving to Iraq prior to invading Kuwait).
Can't have it both ways Tom.
