Are there Republicans out there encouraging any citizen who is eligible to vote, to get out there and vote?
If they aren't, why not?
Do you think that a group who encourages a person to vote, and who offers material aid in the face of official obstruction, might have a greater chance of being seen as an ally of the voter in question?
Is it an official, or even unofficial, Republican position that someone who commits a felony and who serves his or her time ought to be confined to a permanently disenfranchised underclass, beyond redemption and beneath contempt, forever after?
The question is not why anyone would want to encourage voting in a democratic nation. Universal participation is a pretty obvious philosophical goal of democracy. The question is, rather, why anyone would want to discourage voting by attempting to bar people who have that right from voting.
