If we're winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.....

then why in the world aren't they coming to the coalition forces with tips on how to find evil people like al-Zarqawi? Every time that jerk beheads someone, it appears he's got at least 4 or 5 others in his group with him. You start having groups like that and word gets around from the relatives and friends of the terrorists as to their whereabouts and plans. Sure seems to me, as abhorrently violent his bunch is, that some Iraqi would have to have a conscience and feel he needs to be brought to justice if there is this widespread optimism in the citizenry.

I can understand the citizens being hesitant to cooperate if they believe the coalition's chances of winning the peace are slim since they will be targetted once the country falls into chaos but, if what our conservative bunch are saying, that the majority of the country is embracing freedom and democracy, then you'd think that we'd be inundated with good tips on wiping out the insurgent leaders and terrorists. In our own revolution, loyalists were in deep shit, constantly hunted down and harrassed by the average citizen because they saw them as an impediment to liberty and justice.

Since we can't seem to agree on if things are going good or bad in Iraq based on news reports and weblogs, maybe it's that one piece of news that's missing that is truly telling the story.
