His military references have ranged from implication that he was a POW to hints that he was never near a battlefield.
Either way he has a right to be heard and I have a right to be disgusted by his portrayal of the wounded insurgent as a Iraqi patriot, in spite of the possibility that he may have participated in the torture and beheading of captives.
The reaction to this incident says it all about us. Bad things happen in war and we are willing to allow those things to be reported and prosecute the guilty.
I have zero sympathy for the insurgent and total sympathy for the Marine that had been seeing his buddies killed and wounded by fanatics for 3-4 days. If there are no extenuating circumstances he will of necessity become another victim, because we give a shit.
