The 'faithful' cant have it both ways....

Either god is all powerful as nearly all religions claim or god is not all powerful...

If god is all powerful, then god caused this disaster...

If god caused this then god did it on a whim, or as punishment...

If god did this on a whim is this god worth our respect?

If god did this as punishment why were the infants and children and people that just tried to live their lives the best they could sentenced to terrifying deaths? Again, is this a god we should worship?

So we are left with 2 options - either god is impotent and incapable of saving humans from tragedy, or god is an incredibly evil bastard that should be brought up on crimes against humanity- either way we have to ask ourselves- Is this god worth all the devotion, time, materials expended in worshipping this figment of our collective imagination?

Is god worth the 100's of millions that have been killed in god's name? Is god even worth a quarterback thanking god after his football team wins?

After every tornado there are several idiots interviewed that claim that they only survived because they prayed to god and god saved their lives... They seem to be oblivious that they are implying that the 5 year old whose body was found in a tree a block away had not prayed enough for god to spare her life... religion, in its most devout form, is a sickness...

Those that believe in god but are able to discard the ugliness and hatred taught by most religions and adhere to the positive parts of the religions (which are common to nearly all religions) have my respect.... Those that behave like decent human beings even though they do not fear hell, or divine retribution since they do not believe in those myths have more of my respect....

Either all those children deserved to be killed and maimed and orphaned, or god is 1) actually an evil vile perverted creature, or 2) completely powerless, or 3) (the most rational explanation) maybe god in gods various forms is just a creation of our primitive ancestors to explain a world that was terrifying and unknowable without science. The difference between religion and science is that religion punishes questioning, science rewards those that that overthrow established beliefs...

A few centuries ago the tsunami would most likely be explainable by only the act of a god- now we know it was due to an earthquake in a place we know is prone to earthquakes- we know how this happened and we know how to predict tsunamis after an earthquake- all the prayer in the world wont predict a tsunami....

Those that say god is responsible are on the same plane as Lindy, who claims some secret program using forces she has no clue about somehow did it...
