The left doesnt resent the successful, Tom... what I resent is morons that think that they owe nothing to others... there may be some that resent success but they hardly represent 'the left'...
Until you stop labeling those that disagree with you as 'lazy' or 'envious' or 'terrorist supporters' rational discussion with you will be pointless...
I have worked with the best in their fields, they tend to be 'on the left'.... You can bitch about how academia is on the left all you want, but you are an engineer - i think you know that you do not get a technical position based on your politics, I have personally given a thumbs up to the hiring of people that I KNEW were at my opposite of the political spectrum....
SKILLS AND TALENT are all that matters... unless the person makes it clear he will kill those who disagree with their politics then their beliefs dont matter in the hiring process...
You resent that academia seems dominated by the left... well tough shit! Academia tends to be the most educated, and those that get degrees tend to be more intelligent and determined- it is not their fault that right wing nuts cant seem to do much with their lives in general...
Would you advocate a form of affermitive action for the poor oppressed right wingers? How would that fit in your world view?
