- First, when I'm talking about academia, I'm not usually referring to the engineering schools, or other "non-fuzzy" subjects. I'm a lot more worried about the institutions turning out our teachers and journalists.
- Second, the people I'm talking about when I'm talking about liberals who are probably operating from envy are the writers, academics, and others who make a public career out of lambasting capitalism.
- Third, obviously there are plenty of rich liberals. I think how they got their money makes some difference, but they exist.
You are, of course, correct that there are plenty of liberals and/or Democrats in engineering, technical fields, and the sciences. I've worked with plenty myself. The point is, the ones I knew didn't spend a lot of their time bitching about how the rich are bastards who are ruining it for the rest of us.
