"So, if you're paralyzed, you're a vegetable? How do you know that when she hasn't been given the chance in ten years?"
Not true on two counts.
First off, she is not paralyzed. She can and does move most of her body. Just because she doesn't fit the made-for-TV-movie simplification of a cortically dead person doesn't mean she isn't one. The science and the facts are clear on this: TS' Brain is cortically dead, showing no meaningful function outside the brainstem.
Second, for 7 years both the Parents and the Husband tried countless therapies to attempt some form of recovery. None worked- for seven years!!!.
Its easy to look at TS and believe something is going on in there. But every credible evaluation and every established scientific fact tells us otherwise.
"These laws better change soon, regardless whether you're a man or a woman. For what it's worth."
Why? Because you say so? Because you believe something? The laws are consistent with medical science and the rights of spouses to make caregiver decisions. What makes you so qualified to judge them inadequate?
