is it the government's job to protect its people from the evils of alcohol?

What about protecting from the evil of sexually transmitted disease?

What about protection from fried foods?

Or protection from mom's bad cooking practices?

Just where do you draw the line for a "government as protector of the people"?

If protecting its citizensis the undebatable..number one responsibility" of the US Government, then welcome to the world envisioned in the book 1984!
