I realize I have a responisiblity for my own survival in a disaster situation. You're the one who seems to be saying that the government has no responsibility.

Are you that detached from reality? If not then come out and admit the government has a responsibilty to protect its citizens in a disaster, and quit trying to make excuses for failures by all levels of government in the aftermath of Katrina.
