Political pressure, and a resume that didn't stand up.

I'm still waiting for actual facts proving a real failure. Not anecdotes, not political bluff, but something that flies in the face of the research I've done, the numbers and dates I dug up, and opinions I've seen from National Guardsmen and others.

Not scattered mistakes and screwups, an inevitable part of any large operation, but something that shows an organizational failure at the Federal level that led to many deaths where none would have occured otherwise.

So far, nothing.

Bush bought the political bluff. Probably politically expedient, but he put the seal of approval on something that isn't actually true.

The death toll across the entire Gulf Coast is currently 883, of which 646 are in Louisiana. I have no idea how many of that 646 are from New Orleans. Assuming every last one was a New Orleans death, 79 of those were from two specific incidents in a hospital and a nursing home, where they were abandoned. That's 12 percent of the entire total.
