re: My calculator

Elisee Reclus — 5/18/2006 12:53:48 AM (archived)

Hi Tom--

I don't think they make RPNs any more. I have an HP28s and an HP48GX, but I don't think anybody today learns Reverse Polish Object-Oriented language anymore. Of course, we have college graduates today who can't diagram a sentence, or multiply fractions.

I've programmed my calculators to do some celestial navigation calculations and some coordinate transformations I do at work and for my astronomy hobby. If I broke or lost my calculators, I'd have to go out and buy some software and put it on my PC to do the same job, and I'd have no way of knowing whether it was working properly.

Maybe TI makes a programmable graphics calculator, but it probably isn't RPN.
