Cheney wasn't killing those birds for himself. It wasn't what it seems.
He was killing 'em to give to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some for the folks in Germany, and Japan and Korea, as they are just as patriotic as the people in the combat zones. Of course the Capital Police would be deserving, too.
A few for people in the Pentagon. Will have a "Cheney Appreciation Day" in the cafeteria with quail under glass as the special. Rumsfeld needs a bunch as 14 of his great-grandchildren are each going to stuff a pillow with some of the feathers as a class project.
Of course GWB would feel slighted if he didn't get 8 or 10, and Laura. They will freeze 'em for their version of Texas Badmitten. Usually use baby chicks. (After a few games they'll donate theirs to the Salvation Army, too. Inflated value as these are tenderized.)
The balance will go to the Salvation Army. Even though their value can be deducted from taxes at a rate which will pay for the trip, that doesn't detract from the selfless nature of the gift.
Don't be too harsh on Cheney. He may be a bastard, but he's a magnanimous bastard, always thinking of the other guy.
