Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black here Tom.
"The people who want to make this into a political weapon have a lot to gain by emphasizing the "human-caused" (often meaning "Western Capitalist caused") problem. "
So what you're saying is that someone that's legitimately concerned that the theories are true and want a political solution to it are guided by the principle of wanting Western capitalistic society to be overturned? Oh, of course there could be no other factor such as feeling a responsiblity to the human race and desiring that your legacy survives a few more centuries.
Are you so blinded by Republican ideaology that you'd believe that most people would put the gains of their politics ahead of their concern to the planet? Are you that naive to think that activists attacking greenhouse emissions don't understand the economic price they'll have to pay by making all of us more accountable? Some humans Tom are simply able to think of more than just their own personal profit and financial prosperity in issues like this.
Are there opportunists? Yeah Tom, on both sides but I hardly believe it's but a handful of folks and doubt most are scientists.
