It doesnt take a genius to figure out that taking uncomrehendably large quantities of carbon that have been locked as oil or coal or gas for millions of years and burning it into the atmosphere is

a) Unsustainable
b) Unwise

You can play with the figures to asses the effects of our actions - but you don't need to to see that our actions are unwise.
