re: Walmart can, too, bankrupt a community.

Not only plenty of anecdotal evidence, but common sense supports it too. WalMart is a huge economic entity. For the latest quarter it reported sales of almost $80 billion, and $2.6 billion in profit. It has $5.8 billion in cash in the bank.

In other words, WalMart has more money in the bank to spend on lawyers than the entire budget of many States, let alone small towns. A $million is big bucks to a small town, I'd say equal to or greater than the annual operating budget of the smaller towns; and WalMart has a war chest enabling it to take on five thousand such small towns simultaneously.

It's a David and Goliath battle all right, and it's hilarious to suppose that WalMart is the underdog.
