The original intent of eminent domain was not to take property from one private profit-making entity and give it to another private profit-making entity, just because the latter was less "ghetto" or would generate more property taxes. Even you have to admit that point.
An awful lot of liberals were just as shocked by that Supreme Court decision as conservatives were. But there it is, and it's now being used enthusiastically by various Junior Socialists in various cities.
Small businesses and homeowners who are being stripped of their property this way don't make the papers like Wal-Mart does.
