Though inteestingly dust devils can be low-profile, with just the vortex and a shadow as seen in this image, sans massive streaking tail behind it. So, maybe I won't throw in the towel just yet on the dust devil idea...

So-called dust-devil nursery:

Doesn't directly related to gysering, but since I was talking about dust devils, I figured some net pictures would be fun. :)

Anywho... Lots o' dust devils... Lots o' streaking. Hence lots o' electricity on Mars, since we now know that dust devils are electrical beasts, according to Nasa who finally had to give in to overwhelming data. About time...
Now, if they'll just give in on redefining comets comas as electrical phenomena, it'll go a LONG way toward our understanding of How Things Work. Like: why the comets' tails extend over millions of miles in a confined filament rather than expanding in 3 dimensions according to neutral gas laws, why we keep seeing x-rays coming off them, why comets explode in the OUTER reaches of the solar system when they're WAY too far from the sun to sublimate due to heat, why when we OBSERVE them nearer to the sun they look like giant well defined rocks rather than soft/eroded/sublimated "icy dust balls" or "dusty ice balls" or whatever the current wacky Nasa buzz words are.
We'll get there eventually. Just need to introduce electricity into the stellar lexicon. Then things like black holes and pulsars and blazars and radio galaxies, and neutron stars, and quasars all tend to make sense too. Sicne it shoudl be obvious that the jets we see coming off of all or most of them are filamentary and confined over cosmic distances, which can really only happen if you introduce magnetic constriction. And that only happens if you introduce electrical processes to POWER the constriction (electricity in plasmas generally tends to self-constrict).
Ahh the fun of new paradigms.
Of course I'll probably get flamed for questioning dogma. But that's life. Just know this, everywhere we look we're starting to see the telltale marks of electrical involvement (from highly energetic emissions that aren't due to heat, to self-constricting flows of particles in jets in space, to lightning, to dust devil and tornado formation paralleling the positive streamer filament and the stepped leader filament of lightning formation; did you ever wonder why you get a ground swirl and cloud swirld at the same time, and how they slowly reach out to each other to connect? It's the same way with lightning, just slower for tornados and faster/catastrophic for lightning).
Cheers!
