I'd still like to know (after a few other posts we've chatted on):
a) How you've dated the Martian magnetosphere to 3.9 Billion years ago (IE, what are the basic major assumptions underlying the dating).
b) How you've dated the "spiders" to 1 million years ago (again what major assumptions lead to their dating?).
c) How you explain the banding of "spiders" around Mars' south pole?
d) How you explain the monthly/seasonal banding of lightning strikes around specific latitudes of the Earth.
e) Why you feel that lightning on Mars would not display the same banding pattern probabilities displayed on Earth (regardless of whether it's seasonal related or magnetosphere related, there is distinct banding of lightning at specific latitudes on Earth, and I see no reason to assume that the same banding pattern would not manifest in the same manner on Mars).
f) Why you feel that Lightning does not cause the Lichtenberg formations so readily apparent in the "spiders" and so easily compared to Lichtenberg formations carved frequently into fields by lightning strikes on Earth.
Is it simply an engrained dogmatic point of view, or is there specific evidence against lightning (assuming it has EVER even bee considered as a causative force, which I'm somehow doubting since everyone seems bound to talking about fluid mechanics) as causation.
Simple statements are fine (IE, probabilistic theories of impact cratering and erosion timelines, specific seasonal variations, etc.), in-depth responses aren't utterly needed as I can look up the finer points on my own once pointed in the right direction. Butif you prefer a longer-winded response, that's fine too. I tend to be long winded, at times, but only 'cause there's so much ground to cover adn i tend to cover the thought processs behind it too.
