... The big question is why this mass insanity is occuring, why "global warming" is so widely accepted despite the facts, and why the solutions proposed usually involve trading paper instead of nuclear electric power generation."
It is an interesting question. But there are polls [if you trust polls] that show that Americans are not any more concerned about "Global Warming", today as compared to they were 2 decades ago. But I agree that there is a lot of insanity or perhaps confusion on the subject.
There are a number factors causing this confusion. First, the Left and other people in general seem to love to deliberately distort the meaning of words, specifically in this case the term, Global warming. As a scientific term it refers to a period of time of some 10,000 years in which there is a warmer conditions than compared to conditions during an ice age. But it's common usage [as used by The Media and "popuar" speech and writings] it's a term referring to human activity affecting global temperature- and can be so corrupted that usually means only the warming affect caused manmade emissions of CO2.
The effect of human activity upon global temperature is fairly insignificent. And without any doubt in the past global climate has changed [without any possible involvement by human activity- and historically it's dramatically affected humans [in time span from earliest human civilization, sea level as risen 100 feet or 2 and a mile or 2 of ice over many of the continents has melted away]. The causes of cooling and warming periods is still not fully understood- though the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere is probably not a major factor, and when one is talking about changes of only from say .03 percent to .04 or .06, or say down to .02 percent; it's defintely not a major factor in terms of Global climate or Global temperature.

- Interesting thread
- Give it time
- An honest discussion would admit current CO2 levels are actually ~380ppm.
- Then CO2's effect on temperature is even less
- AND your scientific credentials are....?

- As far as I can tell from what EP said, then you added the human-caused clause to what he said.
