I've read many articles about the power of positive thinking, and how simple laughter and a positive attitude have brought people back from the death sentence of certain cancers.
Luckily, I haven't lost anyone close to me from that dreaded disease, but I almost lost my mother twice, and I wondered if it had anything to do with living with my father. She was very unhappy and felt trapped in the marriage. I certainly believe that staying in a untenable relationship (or marriage) would produce a suppressed immune system.
I had another girlfriend get breast cancer during an impossible situation with her daughter, and I've seen other women friends succumb to it as well. I always wondered....they seemed happy and pleasant on the outside, but were they conflicted and unhappy deep down?
I know a positive attitude can bring one through the most difficult situations, but I'm not sure that is always possible, especially when genetic or environmental factors are included. Stress and the immune system is another major factor.
If only positive thinking were a cure for every disease...........
