A fascinating, objective investigation of the political, sociological, economic, and religious factors that go into creating a palestinian suicide bomber- it focuses on a 15 year old that was seduced and recruited for martyrdom by violent extremists, he is captured at the last moment, when he cannot bring himself to push the button. It is an eyeopening look into the elaborate machinery that goes into creating these walking weapons. What struck me is how the fanatics have very deftly engaged in sophisticated social engineering to create a generation of children that worship the concept of martyrdom. Surprisingly, and sadly, the younger generation is more fanatical than the older....
It is important to understand how the enemy manipulates the people if we are to combat it- sadly it may be too late...
video
It is about an hour long, but I encourage anyone thats wondered "How can they do such a barbaric thing?!" to watch it... It makes no excuses for their actions, it simply looks at what motivates them. It is somewhat depressing, but brilliantly done. It in no way makes you condone their actions- quite the opposite- but it does, in a small way, help you understand what can make a person do such an evil act.
Particularly poignant is the transformation of the 15 year old from a confused brainwashed kid that loved his family too much to push the button, to a hardened boastful extremist determined to get it right ' next time' after a year in prison...
