In Israel, as well as Iraq and elsewhere, suicide bombers are almost always brainwashed fools, drugged, or motivated by threats to their families. You will never see any of the leaders of these movements, the ones who make the speeches on martyrdom, wrapping bombs around themselves.
Note that the Israelis, instead of just putting a bullet through his head, tried to save him, despite the danger.
