re: I will not counter you, because....

First off- I never said the medical industry was 'infallible', nor did I say anywhere that mistakes are not made every day. But, Would you still be alive without medical care for that fist-sized Cyst? Would your Husband still be alive without antibiotics for his staph infection and pneumonia? Or treatment for the blood clots? I'm sorry your nephew died, of course, but how man people do heart surguries save every. single. day. Sure, I have some bone-chilling horror stories to tell you about medical error- hell, everyone does.

I count myself a hale, hearty and healthy man. I eat right and work out like a horse, avoid tobacco as much as I can. I am a mere 32 years down, but odds are I would have died probably 3-4 times for sure if it wasn't for modern medicine (bad staph infection, Spinal menengitis, and born premature and jaundiced- and throw in one for the dozens of childhood ear infections and infantile bouts of strep).

Yes, you have anecdotal cases where some idiots in the medical industry fu&$ed up. Nobody is perfect. However, yet again for the third time: What is the infant mortality rate now versus 500 years ago? What is the life span now versus 500 years ago? What is the percentage of births now that end in the death of the mother and/or the death of the infant now versus 500 years ago?

Yes, mistakes happen- thats never been the point. The point is: If you reject the benefits of scientifically based medicine for snake oil and bullshit, it might cost you your life. Worse, when you advocate or give public 'credence' to snake oil and bullshit, it might encourage others to eschew scientifically founded medicine, and it might cost them their life. The more people advocate for this nonsense, the more harm it actually does to society.

Millions of our best best minds over hundreds of years have dedicated their lives to humanity and forged the greatest tool the world has ever seen for fighting disease (modern western medicine), alleviating chronic pain and releasing their fellow man from suffering. Most of the ones who did the important work are barely known at all, and most of the ones who laid the foundations never got rich or rewarded for it. And now, a bunch of healthy spoiled people want to stand in front of 'Violet Energy' machines and rave about the evils of western medicine and 'Electric vortical cancellamation woozits'?

I think thats a problem. I think it deserves some resistence. I think it requires people to stand up against the 'dying of the light' of reason. If its me, fine. If you want to call me a bastard for it, fine. But when people like me invent the next Great Pill that you take to extend your life or save your grandchildren, will you still take it for granted?
