Jerks come in all shapes, sizes and beleifs, but I'll grant you that "extreme christians" can often be extremely difficult. Depends in part on how vocal they are. One of my wife's oldest friends is quite a devout christian, as is her husband, and I get along fine with them mainly because we just don't discuss religion...or politics, for that matter.
That's neither a spoken nor absolute rule, though...he and I *have* talked spirituality, and I've enjoyed those talks, but once we'd come to an understanding about our beleifs (I'm an observing atheist), we let the matter rest.
He's an intelligent, decent fellow who beleives there's a big guy sitting on a throne in the sky watching over all of us...and though I think that's damn weird, no different really from beleiving the earth sits on an infinite stack of turtles, I'm ok with letting him beleive it, and he's ok with letting me going to hell when I die.
