re: Bit my lip

"This latest experience just added fuel to my assumption that fundamentalist Christian conservatives have the worst ethics and morals in our society today and that my circle of friends will never include the extremes of religious belief. I'd be curious to hear from other atheists and agnostics on the board of similar experiences."

I think if more Christians placed more importance on the virtue of Humility, they not only would not only understand their religion better, perhaps more importantly they attract more people to their religion. Though of course it's difficult virtue- and it's not as though I am very good in regards following a virtuous life- I couldn't even list the virtues. But I think Christ said something about wanting sinners in his church or that Christianity was all about saving the sinners. So one could say that having sinners in the Christian religion, is not a bug, but a feature:).
