When I was negotiating labor agreements I was double-crossed only twice, both times by devout Christians.
I believe the personality types which can become professing fundamental Christians as well as their perceived piety gives them permission to seek ends regardless of the means. God understands.
And clearly on the level of fundamental Christians there is a profound lack of empathy which permits all manner of abuse of their fellow Man.
Not true for ALL Christians, by any means. Not all scoundrels are Christians, and not all Christians are scoundrels, obviously, but their Christianity can be used to rationalize their unethical behavior by scoundrels.
By the way, both Bill Clinton and George Bush are alleged to cheat at golf. I find that hard to imagine - why would one cheat at golf? Says a lot.
