I'm prepared to wait and see how the new strategy in Iraq works. I hope it works because a pullout even a year from now would make it worse than it is today.
Pulling in iran and Syria to the table is a good idea, even if that was deemed heresy by your side not 3 months ago. I think things have a chance for looking up.
Now we don't have enough feet on the ground in Afghanistan - that should be obvious to even a blinkered partisam like yourself. Question is how do we get more there? As long as we're in Iraq we haven't got the capacity. Other than vigourous diplomacy - sorry I said a dirty word there - I don't know how we're going to get them.
Pakistan is a revolution waiting to happen - with nukes! - and I don't know what to do ther to save Musharraf's sorry ass. Do you? Maybe he needs a Marshall plan all of his own. He's probably the key to Afghanistan recovering - if he can both quell the Taliban sympathisers and keep his own head at the same time.
