You condone and support a drug culture. Dope smoking doesn't make you cool or hip, it makes you a dope. A weak minded person in need of a crutch to make it through the day. Instead of developing mental mechanisms to deal with stress, they prefer to use a drug to mellow out. The lack of mental fortitude nowadays is what's leading to more and more Virginia Tech type situations.
As for side effects, the damage done to memory centers of the brain is very well documented, as is decreased reflexes and dampening of judgement. Those are just for starters.
