A thermonuclear Orion could do it.
The use of a large artificial magnetosphere would take care of the protons. The task of interstellar travel is daunting now, and will remain so for many decades to come, but it's no more impossible than space based colonies are today. We know how to build massive rotating colonies, but lack the space based infrastructure and financial capabilities to do it at present. In time that will change.
