Thought-provoking indeed

Given the right conditions, how terrible can humanity become? We all know the answer to that. If things continue to deteriorate on earth, then *we* may become the "monsters from outer space."

Perhaps ER's assertion is the only hope for extra-solar life...humanity won't become [any more] horrible [than we already are] because we simply won't "need" to.

If it were left up to the quality of our collective heart, I'd pity poor ET.
