I see another possible future, where humans, or whatever we evolve into, become experts in terraforming.
Finding a world that we can live on as it is will be rare. Most worlds we encounter will need some tweaking.
Humans could take what they learn terraforming Mars and Venus and apply it to the worlds of the Alpha Centauri System. As they terraform each world the experience and knowledge gained will make it easier to terraform other worlds encounter as humans spread throughout the galaxy.
Eventually, terraforming may become a textbook process.
Or will humans adapt their bodies for the worlds they live on?
Of course, as humans go their separate ways as they spread out across the galaxy, all kinds of things might happened independent from each other.
And in millions of years, there could be humans that look totally alien to each other. The only way to know they are not a true alien species is to look at their DNA.
Space/Science » in reply to ER has an excellent point
Then there is terraforming.
