Live free or die?

"I'm still finding the Saddam Fan Club a bit nauseating, but it helps to have built up a tolerance to that sort of thing from decades of the Left fawning over every communist totalitarian that ever raised its ugly head around the world.

"Is it really the case that you would sell out freedom for free meals, schools, and medical care? "

I addressed that issue here.

It comes down to “Is it worth living as a slave, or taking a chance at dying to be free?” I think it is, but I have never been in that situation. Someone else shed their blood for my freedom long ago.

And it is hard to look at the pictures of the dead innocent Iraqis and wonder if it is worth it.

I think most people would rather “Live free or die.”

This is where the UN needs to step in. The Free world can not turn a blind eye to tyrants who murder their own people. To allow such horrible human rights violations to go on under their noses is a crime.

The UN role in this world should be to ensure people all over the world get basic human rights and rulers who violate this should be dealt with. Those who murder their own people, like Saddam did, should be removed from power. The free world needs to work together to do this. We can not turn a blind eye to such behavior.

That is the role I envision the UN taking on, but I don’t see it happening.
