I think the science community assessment on aging is that it is in the genes. We reach a point where our cells stop creating new cells.
I think it goes back to what nature wants. Nature just wants life to reproduce. Once the new generation is born, nature is ready for the older generation to die off. That older generation just uses up resources the new generation needs. Nature is done with the older generation- time for it to go as far as nature is concerned.
I don’t see why ours cells could not keep rejuvenating if we could find what triggers aging. Imagine being stuck in puberty for 200 years (maybe that wouldn’t be such a good thing.)
I just want to be healthy and have all my wits until the day I die. It would be nice to live to 200. It seems like by the time we get our lives together and financial secure, we are too old to enjoy it.
If aging is cured, the human race will need to watch its population growth. I just hope we don’t become a stagnant race.
Perhaps people willing to live on Mars and elsewhere off the Earth could be the only ones cured from aging. That would be a good incentive to get people into Space.
