The White side of the equation

Pure white is often too stark and "cold". I painted my new trike with "white" stripes, and it took 2 people an hour to choose the right shade of 'not-quite' white to make it look as if it really WAS white. Now it's done, it looks magnificent, and everyone thinks it's white, till you lay a sheet of photocopy paper on it.
