Math and Science

Jody, I understand completely what you're saying actually. I think for many of us that like to believe we see things in gray, the math and science is simply that base we can return to when things get too foggy and hazy. It's a warm and reassuring place to me not some cold and dispassionate area.

My problem with relying too much on science is that it, in its current state, is incomplete simply because of our ability to measure outside of our own senses. We rely on the output of detectors that are limited by the physics that constructed them. Those detection devices rely on finite boundaries, something that the universe in my mind doesn't need to care about. The whole debate about travel faster than light speed is a great illustration of that concept. The concept of this maximum speed for all things within our realm is framed by our own limitations of detection. Until we climb into a craft that is capable of extremely fast speeds away from our fixed references, we can never truly observe the dynamics involved.

That of course is a very simplistic view of the point I'm trying to make but I'm more trying to illustrate the mindset that we must take to keep expanding our knowledge. We have this tendency as a species to use our intuition and wishful thinking to "prove" our scientific theories much as we do with our other philosophies of life and I'm ok with that as long as we continual stay introspective about it all.

Mysteries are fun and if they were all solved life would be pretty boring.

Oh and by the way, since this is Flame and I've been way too nice and agreeable - Nice post bitch.
