From your subject line, I thought you were going to say:
Some bulbs are brighter than others...and YOU McFly are one DIM bulb! (And of course you'd be right.)
OK, I can understand a reluctance on the part of people to involve media in their lives. I've worked with reporters for whom news is something that's made as much as it's found.
Don't know if it brings me any closer to believing, but maybe I'm slightly less ignorant :-)
